This is a non-credit, gap-bridging course to the PMA 4CL cadets before the start of the academic year. It aims to fortify the basic foundations needed for a better understanding of Algebra. The course focuses on core pre-algebra and introductory algebra topics, including operations on signed numbers, laws of exponents, operations on polynomials, factoring techniques, and special products. The course also introduces operations on rational expressions and basic manipulation of radical expressions.

Analytic Geometry, also known as coordinate geometry, is a three (3) unit course concerned with the properties of and relationships between points, lines, planes, and figures with generalizations of the concepts of second-order curves and surfaces (circle, parabola, ellipse, and hyperbola). It is the study of geometry using a coordinate system and the principles of algebra and analysis. The course also includes curve tracing and an introduction to space coordinates and simple surfaces as a prelude to elementary calculus. Mathematical modeling based on real-life situations is also integrated and introduced.

Differential Calculus is fundamental to progressive symbolic logic. Specifically, MAT231 covers the basic concepts of limits which is the foundation of derivatives, the differentiation rules as applied to algebraic and transcendental functions, and the applications of derivatives in simulated and real-life scenarios. The lessons in the course will provide the cadets' definitions, theories, and axioms that will engage each learner to appreciate the power of mathematics through logic and analysis that propel higher-order thinking skills; problem-solving that will improve their manipulative and reasoning skills, and strategies and methodology that will build an attitude, character, habits and values befitting a soldier in the field.
